Hello everyone,

I have at long last been finally well enough to make my first post. This last year my health has been poor and have been in out of hospital.

My first car was a Fiat Panda 45, and ever since then been smitten with the Fiat bug. Over the years I have had a Punto 75SX (boy did that car shift) and a Bravo as well as Stilo. I have now a Panda Active 2011 model which I love, but am finding problems with a part I need. Apparently the part has to come from Italy and may take up to 6 months depending if it is sent via ferry with a shipment of new cars.

As I am disabled & there is only one external door lock which the key turns to lock and unlock, my husband paid for reverse parking sensors, and for remote controlled locking. However, the company advised that as our is a basic model, it needs a part to be fitted to the drivers door and multiplugged in to allow remote locking to be fitted. All the models in the range have the part (apart from the Active model) and I wonder if anyone else has had this issue? I have paid Bristol Street Fiat £83.50 to order the part, they have phoned me this morning to advise that Italy acknowledged the order, but are having to check with their parts manufacturer if the part is still available or discontinued?

If anyone is having the same issue or have been through the process on waiting for parts from Italy, I would be interested to know your experiences.

Kind Regards

PM

Hi Charlie, thanks for the welcome & advice.

This afternoon I rang the dealer and they have said that they can't give me the part number, as Fiat UK forbid this information. Allegedly it is to protect the customer from fraud and counterfeit parts. I then rang Fiat UK customer services on 00800 3428 0000 only to find that my call was routed to a contact centre abroad. They could not answer my questionss and am still none the wiser. -I give up.

I am going to see if I can get an email or UK address for Fiat.

Best wishes
Paula

Not exactly helpful..

Look on the Blue banner T top of FF Homepage.
there is a link to ePER..the parts system.

Work yor way through..you should be able to find the part number yourself..

Of course the unhelpful dealer may refuse fit parts youve supplied.

Hi Charlie, Thanks for the advice.

An update - I have finally managed to get a part number by ringing the original supplying dealer Parks Motor Group. The part number is 51917900. Sadly they were unable to get a part as the computer points to Italy. (Same as Bristol Street)

I then emailed the Press Office at FCA London, they were very helpful & advised there is 1 part which I need & it is currently in Greece. The Greece parts codes are slightly different to the UK, they are waiting to hear from the Technical Director to advise if the part is what I need and that it would work in my car. If that is the case, the part will be shipped from Greece to Turin & then shipped to the UK.

In all my years of driving Fiat's, I have never had this amount of trouble when needing a part. Next time I change my car I shall think twice about buying Fiat again.

Hi Charlie,

I was called this evening from FCA UK technical. The part I needed is not available anymore, and the part in Greece is not compatible. I have posted in the Panda section and put up a request for help. I know nothing about car electrics whatsoever. I am led to believe the part itself is the door catch with an actuator?

Naturally am disappointed as the remote locking would help me, but I think realistically the idea is now to be shelved.

Thank you for your posts and help. I did try your suggestion to look up on the e-part but as I don't have a clue I gave up!

Cheers
Paula
