Hi everybody new to forum, being owner of Fiat 500l 1.6 diesel:):):)

Welcome! The 500L section is generally pretty quiet but people do still tend to reply when questions are asked :)

How are you finding the 1.6? I have the same engine and I personally think it's brilliant. I've had the car for a good few months now and can honestly say that I have never been in a situation where I have wished the car had more power available. The 320nm of torque makes overtaking and driving up steep hills an absolute joy.

Hope you enjoy the car and forum!

Hi,

I also have the 1.6, but I have to say that it is both noisier and thirstier than the 1.3 I have driven as a rental car before. My overall consumption is 10 % above the consumption of my previous car, a Citroen C4 Picasso HDI, while the 500L has considerably less weight, so I am not 100 % ok with Luigis fuel consumption, honestly. It is great to drive however, lots of torque, even from low rpm where the C4 was very weak.

I couldn't agree more. The fuel economy isn't great and it can be noisy when cold.

City driving I get around 30mpg. On longer journeys I have seen as high as 62mpg but usually 55-58mpg. Although to be fair, I haven't yet embraced the start/stop system, I have it turned on but I generally stay in 1st gear with the clutch down when stopped and waiting at lights. It's a habit that I really need to break.

I also have the climate control on at all times set to 17c which I am sure doesn't help the economy either.

But to be honest, despite the fuel economy and noise, it's still the right engine choice in my opinion. It's worth every extra penny in running costs :)
