Get an good aftermarket stereo instead of the stock rubbish radio and you solved your problem.
You need just the double din frame that's readily available on ebay and you can install any double din radio you want, touchscreen, nav, anything you want.

Generally radios are individually coded, a new unit MUST come with the code number to activate it. The original radio is not a top quality unit so I would tend to agree that an aftermarket unit would be not only cheaper but better overall. If you look around you can get one that has ALL the original functions and still works on the remote controls. If you change for a second hand Fiat unit just make sure you get the code number for the unit so you can activate it once fitted. Any genuine seller will supply this. Good luck
