Hi everybody I have just joined and I am looking for any advise anyone can give me here goes.....
I have purchased a Fiat 500 1.2 Lounge 63 plate with 2,200 miles on, this car was a cat d it was a straight forward repair, just a wing and new door, drives lovely BUT after checking the oil and water as the car has been standing for a nearly a year, the oil smells VERY strongly of petrol, I have called my local Fiat dealer they said that is not normal, I can book it in for a service £155 GULP !!! that's more expensive than my Hyundai IX35 I had before, he said they use special oil ??
Can anybody throw any light on this I don't want to drive the car and damage it if there is a problem, it did blow out some smoke when first using the car but I assumed it was the old fuel as it had been sitting for so long, any help would be appreicated

Hi, did you do the repair..??

there is no normal condition where the fuel can get in the oil..,

personally I'd just change the oil NOW ( £20 job(y)) and then drive it to a VAT registered garage to check it over and do a proper service, all it will require is oil , - with air and oil filters..due to the age.;)
