i drive a 20011.2 8v palio problem is it would die after driving for a while and then it will not start again after a few min it will start up but struggle to gain rev's even pushing the pedal right down to the floor it just sound like its on the verge of dieng then it will rev up suddenly once you leave the pedal it dies right away if I leave the car for say 30min or so it will start up and rev correctly. i have searched all the forums and all the internet it dos not look like any one has the same problem. I have checked all the sensors with a multi meter they all seem to be okay mechanically everything is okay as well . no error codes on the scanner . only thing I can really think of is the ecu had to do a ecu change after my code system stopped working closest ecu I could find was a palio 1.2 2006 model but since the number was the same on ecu I took that it would work . then I am also thinking that it could be the sensor reads fine when I check it but once it warms up the sensor bugs out . so would just like to know if anyone have some insight on the matter.

Hi,
worth removing the crank angle sensor, and cleaning/ testing before remounting.

that can be a temp. related item.

just as a thought, for future diagnosis;

put a spare spark plug lead into a removed HT lead, lay the plug on a metal engine part, crank engine check it sparks,
WHEN it dies out at the roadside..do the same test.. IF it loses the spark you will know where to start looking,
Charlie

just a update I have tested the spark and checked for fuel today directly after it cut out . found that it has 1 strong spark then 1 weak spark but this could be cause of the wasted spark system fiat has fuel seems to be coming in strong so it leaves only the fuel air mixture . I will how ever replace the crank sensor just to be sure

I have found that the problem is infact the ecu asked a guy a few houses down the street popped in his ecu and worked perfectly now what I have noticed on my ecu you switch the car on the fan starts turning once it gets hot the fan stops and with the other ecu it works correctly fan only comes on once the temp starts getting high. my question now is would it be save to just swop the wires around on the ecu that control the fan to make the system work the right way around again.?

problem solved had it a place that reset ecu's they had a look at it said there was a few errors to clear ( all 5 of them somehow connected to the fuel and temperature "safety's" as he called it) said I should give it a try before they start playing around with the actual programming of the ecu . drove about 200km (slowly at first just round the block a few times then went on to high way ) did not cut out at all .
so lesson learned when buying a second had ecu from a smashed car or any second hand ecu make sure to have all error cleared first

yes sorry I skipped mentioning that part I have a maxi scan (small handheld device ) which turns out did not give any error because the maxi scan is not compatible with 2001 palio it only works on cars that is post 2005 ( only see that on the small print a month after you bought it lol ) what they used was a interface scanner the type that plug into a computer.

hi Josephsa, I found a YouTube link about a guy who is testing the TDC(crankshaft position sensor) - that would cause his Fiat Punto to cut-out when it heated up..and then start again once it cooled down. In case your car starts is nonsense again - you can get this part Fiat/Alfa for R785(part number 55189515). (search for 'how to test crankshaft position sensor' on youtube)
