Hello everyone! New to the forum and hoping someone can help me out with some information...

I bought my 57 edition 500 last February and it's right at 17,000 miles (all highway). 4 weeks ago I was driving down the road when it stalled and shut completely down. Managed to get it restarted and to the dealership where it's been ever since! They diagnosed it with a faulty PCM. The part arrived about a week later and installed it, but couldn't get it to communicate with the rest of the car and said they were having issues getting ahold of fiat for assistance. After several more days they informed me that the new PCM was faulty as well and they were sending for another. We're now being told that the part is on back order and they'll call me when it comes in. The dealership has been pleasant and helpful but we're already at 30 days with no information on when it might be done. Has anyone else had this issue? I might add that this car has been completely babied since I've owned it! Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Liz

Hi Liz, and welcome:)

I'm afraid the US 500 is a little different from the European version, so it'll be General advice,
also your support should be US led..,

this kind of thing sometimes happens when a basic wiring issue happens,
the Technician plugs in a laptop , and it doesn't communicate.. so they assume it's a major component failure- as you've seen the replacement has hasd the same effect,
so realistically there may be 2 x results.
1, a basic sensor / wiring failure- on your car that's been fault free for a good while:)
2, a poor quality / batch of components that are prone to problems.., strange after faultless service for a good while.

I'd use google to see if others are reporting the same fault in US 500's,
it may well appear in other chat rooms / car forums, ;)
good luck, (y)
do let us know how things go..,
Charlie

Thank you! I'll keep searching! So far I haven't found anything...

Hello, I’m having the same problem. Whatever ended up happening?

2014 500L PCM went bad. It’s been in the shop for 7 months because the part is on back order
