I got this car in June as my other car gave up the ghost. I have to say I wish I never bought it now as it seems to be a compete nightmare. I am a single mum with limited money and this car well the airbag light remains on and this horrible noise with parking sensor comes up. I rang a garage and they made me feel distraught as they say it probably needs a new computer part costing £500. I just cried silly I know but I know nothing about cars and have very little money. I hate the thought of being ripped off does anybody have any ideas where do I start to try to resolve this problem. I so wish I never bought this car. Kind Regards. Helen

Thanks very much for your reply. I appreciate that very much. I will put my location down I live in Peterborough. The parking thing comes up as a fault as well saying parking sensor and a tool thing meaning I suppose it needs to be repaired. As you can see I do not have a clue. I spoke to a mobile diagnostic mechanic the other day. He said he would charge me £45 to come out and test the fault. Looking at the forum and problems I just hope that these 2 problems do not end up costing more than the car is worth. Can you somehow switch the airbag light off all together. Just wondered as the seller told me you can?. Sorry for being so thick. I have no idea at all. Kind Regards. Helen

Hi,
the reason the airbag light is on is to indicate a "fault" in the system,

the Airbag system has been part of the MOT for a couple of years now - so you can't just turn it off,
however plugging in a decent diagnostic device - ( 10 minute job) SHOULD give a basic description of where the fault lies , and MAY be able to turn the light off.

I don't fully understand the reversing sensor thing.. BUT it MAY be something you CAN switch off,

sorry I'm too far from you,
Charlie - Oxford

I think as all stilos owners find out for the airbag it will be more than possible the passanger seat pad or dicky passanger airbag wire but like said best to connect to mes for a guaranteed answer

Unfortunately stilos airbag system is abit pants. If it's not occupancy sensor, it's the crappy plugs, if its not the plugs then it's the ecu. I've just changed gearbox and it's now bringing up airbag light and computer is saying side air bag value too high or ecu fault. Grrrrrrr

Literally every single electrical issue on my Stilo has been solved by unplugging the connectors, spraying some electrical contact cleaner, and plugging back in.

So far I've had warnings/lights for airbags, oil sensor, glow plug relay, brake light, headlight, no reverse lights, door open.

I spent a whole afternoon unplugging and cleaning every single connector I could find in the whole car, and now 6 weeks later, not a single fault.....where as before, virtually every day.
