Hi Simon,
I've owned my 07 plate 4x4 since August 2010 - it had 18,000 on it then. I bought it because my previous car (Peugeot Partner Escapade) didn't cope too well in wintry conditions.
I initally had Vredstein Quatrac 3's fitted for the first couple of years & they enabled it to cope with the snow & ice fantastically well, but they did suffer a bit from road noise. On one occasion when the A1 was clogged up with snow, I was able to weave in & out of all the bigger 4x4's that had become stuck, and it has been excellent at climbing icy hills, particularly from a standstill.
For the last 3 years I've had Kleber Quadraxer All Season Tyres fitted, which are a good mix of everything you need for town & country driving & a lot quieter on road than the Vredsteins.
Recently, I've been considering trading up to a newer model, but I can honestly say I've had nothing but fun driving this little car over the last 5 winters so I think I'm going to hang onto it a little bit longer. With the rear seats folded down, it's surprising how much stuff you can get in the back, it's so nippy in town & parking in all those spaces that the Qashkais & Yetis can't fit in is very satisfying!
It's just passed 117,000 miles. It's had a couple of cambelts & a new clutch since I've had it, but apart from that has gone from service to service without a problem.
Check out some of the videos on "You Tube" showing what some of our more adventurous owners get up to in theirs & have a great time with your new purchase on our snowy roads this winter!
