Hi all. Right so purchased myself a 2004 fiat punto 1.2 8v to use as a daily runner. At a cost of £550 I can't complain, but does need new front discs and pads(already ordered) new bonnet release cable fitted (was given new one with car), new radio..(going for an aftermarket one), and has a blow in the exhaust to be fixed when I can be bothered. It is going to be used daily to save me racking up the miles on my impreza. I was surprised that it is rather comfortable, although there is no performance and even driving it home I found overtaking an issue haha (use to having 261hp on tap). Maybe have to just sit behind lorries and busses in it :p but it shall do for now, mot'd until may..so as long as it lasts till then it will have done well enough. Yes it is a yellow horror..and faded in places.. Also uploaded a nessicary picture of my near standard 05 Impreza wrx300

They're both lovely cars. The mk2b looks good although someone's removed the factory fitted active sport alloys .

cheers. haha yeah i did think it should have had alloys, but never mind the steelies will do for now :)

I'd defo choose the lovely Fiat over the subaru. :p

ah there is always one insane person on a forum, guess I've found that one already :p

I love small cars, so a Fiat would be preferable to anything else, lol!

Your the opposite to me then. I'm not keen on many little hatchbacks (things like original 500 and VW beetles are pretty cool though) but generally I prefer my 4door's haha (had a mazda 6 2.0TD pushing 184hp before it was awesome until I wanted an impreza haha)

This is my car, and I absolutely love it! I wouldn't want anything else, and intend to keep it as many years as I can, then trade it in for a 3rd Punto, lol!

Looks clean :) though I couldn't deal with a hatch as my only car again. The yellow punto is my 6th car, and first non jap car.

Had Honda Jazz 1.4DS-i, Civic EP2 1.6 Sport, Mazda 6 2.0d [143], and two Impreza WRX300's.

Plan on keeping my current Impreza as long as humanly possible.

As is to be expected, it has a few stone chips and scratches, but it looks beautiful when it's clean. I wanted a Grande for over 8 years (ever since it was launched!) and I bought that 1 last year, and it doesn't disappoint! :)

You've owned a Honda Jazz? Hang your head in shame, lol! :p

My 1st car was a Daewoo Matiz, followed by a Punto mk2b, and now my Grande Punto. :)

Hang my head in shame? Haha you may need to burry yours in the sand to hide the shame of having a matiz hahaha ;) jazz wasn't a bad wee car, 82hp and light enough to throw into corners. I had a lot of fun racing people round back roads haha. Wasn't as quick as the civic that followed but it was much better round the bends haha.

^ that impreza was running about 300ish hp, still hit 30mpg :p but was a cat C write off before i got it (hence the silver instead of gold alloys, and not having colour coded front panels with the world rally team yellow stickers)

had a lot of fun with my cars..and my standard (261hp) impreza is definately the most fun ive had so far (the other impreza was loud to the point it got annoying on my commute to work)

The Matiz was a cracking 1st car. Ideal for learning to drive in. Got to ask, did your hondas smell of wee inside, lol? :p

Ahaha no. Was one lady owner before I got it but she was in her 40's not 70's ;) did your Matiz smell of pee? They seem affa popular with old people up here lol ;) I can't fault the jazz as a first car..bulletproof wee car and hit 47mpg with it haha..

I'm genuinely surprised by that, lol! ;) Nah, my pocket rocket smelt of fear, from my driving lessons, lol!

Shouldn't surprise you, all the old people up here drive corsas, fiestas and VW polo's haha. And I'd have bought another jazz if they didn't hold their values ridiculously well up here haha :) think some sites still sell the mugen replica kit for them as well..

Where I'm from, old people normally drive Hondas, ford fusions, and the poorer pensioners still clutch Rover keys.

I think the main reason why the Matiz wasn't hugely popular as a 1st car is purely because most young people are too thick to see past the Daewoo badge, instead buying cr4p fiestas and kas.

They can't see past the chevrolet badge either for later models haha only seen one chevy matiz, driven by a young lass and it's bright metallic green. I didn't get much of a choice in my first car to be honest as the jazz wouldn't have been my choice of cars either, wanted a 1.4 civic.so many corsas and fiestas up here..as many old people with them as young people.. Seems the only choice for most of them here "fiesta or corsa" I'd only get a fiesta if it was the 1.4tdci, and as for corsas..if I had a gun to my balls..I'd take being shot over driving one.

I have seen a few Chevrolet Matiz'. I had wanted a mk2 Punto for my 1st car, but I found a good Matiz before a found a mk2 Punto in good condition. I don't regret having the Matiz.

That's a bit harsh, lol! The Corsa mk2s are a bit bland and characterless, but a million times more desirable than a fiesta.

Yeah but corsas (up here at least) all seem to be driven by complete ****s, who all think they are the stig, flip you off for obeying the rules of the road, etc puts me clean off them.. The corsa D is a good drive, but as said it's ****s who give them such a bad name..astras look better anyway haha, may seek a nice mk4 astra van next year and get the gsi kit for it as they can look pretty smart while being economical and very practical.
