Just brought a seicento.. help needed regarding keys...

Hi I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I've just brought a 1999 seicento s for my wife but it only has 1 key (the red one) I want to get two blue ones cut 1 for her and 1 for me and keep the red as a backup.
I've seen some blank blue keys online I was wondering if I buy one and get it cut how do I register the transponder chip in the new keys to the car for the immobiliser? Thanks in advanced for any help anyone can give

I believe timpsons do fiat keys. Just go in with you're red key, and get two blue ones. They are quite expensive though. May be cheaper for you to get young woj to get rid of the immo and get standard keys.

Oh it's not as easy as I thought then. I thought you put the red key in the ignition n then put the blue in and it registers it that way?

If you have the red master key then you have the earlier system which is pretty straight forward to program more keys to since you have the master key by the sounds of it. You can buy the keys online and program them yourself (the procedure should be in your owners manual) just make sure that if your buying the keys online they supply the keys with the correct transponder chip. They need to be fitted with Megamos id13 chips not the t5 chips sold by many on Ebay as they wont work for programming with the master key.

Thanks minirib that's what I thought because I was told many years ago when I has ny punto I should of been given the red key because that's how you register a new key. So when I brought this and saw the red key I thought it'd be the same as my punto. Thanks for confirming my thoughts. Brought a key off eBay when it arrives and I've got it cut I'll let you know how I get on.
