Please advise as to which forum I should use for help on installing a radio.

The radio is a Blaupunkt Reno CM147, and the CD player is a IDC A09.

The units are connected, have voltage, but the SCR button does not see the CD player.

Only Radio, and AUX.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, and welcome,
I'm guessing by the CITY designation ( RENO) , that this is from an older FIAT..??

I had a "berlin" in my 1980's FORD

FF's ICE section would be a good start..

however a search of other online Blaupunkt forums may also be good,

Charlie

The IDC-A09 is a wonderful thing when working, but can be fragile and does wear out. There are people who can repair them.

Firstly you MUST connect the IDC-A09 to the radio BEFORE you plug the radio into the power from the car. This can screw up the IDC-A09 internal electronics, but mostly can be sorted by disconnecting again, waiting and the reconnecting.

IDC-A09 will only show a flashing icon for a few seconds, if empty. Have you put any CDs in yet?

The IDC-A09 has not been made for a few years now, so presumably this is either used, or new - old stock. I recently bought a new - old stock one, which didn't work for the same reason as my old one. They apparently don't like being sat unused for some time. I had the new one repaired, but a UK repairer is probably no use to you.

Usual problems relate to the changing mechanism, it wears its gears and the three posts get out of sync. I did find a full repair description somewhere on the net, but it did not give any diagnosis help, so not that useful. You'll need to search for a USA repairer.

There are at least 4 different versions of the IDC-A09 CD changer. Each version has a different part number and different software to make them compatible with different radios.

7607769100 is the generic version that should work with most radios, but may need an interface between the IDC-A09 and the radio.
7607769150 is for Fiat branded radios.
7607769050 is for Peugeot/Citroen branded radios.
7607769107 I don't know what this version is for.

Additional info:

The CD changer worked fine until I changed out the head unit from:

A Blaupunkt Aspen, to a Blaupunkt Reno radio,

Both models are nearly identical, and, initially, the CD player worked fine with the Reno unit.

The wiring harness is the same one as previously used.

Now the player will accept/eject CD's but the Reno unit does not offer
the "changer" option when the SRC (source) button is pressed.

SRC only offers the Radio, and AUX options.

It would appear the head unit is not recognizing, or does not see the CD unit.

Could there by a "memory" clear/reset function on one of these units?

Thanks again to all,

Gerry

CD changer.
This is how they tend to fail, will load and eject CDs, but head unit won't recognise it, or play anything.
If you find a repairer, they'll have seen them like this before.

Thanks Bill,

Now you put me on the right track.

I would much rather find a replacement unit, but they are very scarce,
and I did not find one by my recent searches.

Best,

Gerry

My bet is you'll still need a repairer. My original had been repaired twice, so I picked up a new - old stock unit, but that needed an overhaul anyway as all the grease in the mechanism had gone sticky. So unless your original unit is past repairing (unlikely), get that one fixed.
Just Googled 'Blaupunkt Repair USA' and got these three which may be worth looking at.
