Hello, I have a Fiat Grande Punto 57 plate 1.2L active. The heating on my car has broken and wont work all together now, to begin with if I wiggled around with the wires under the glovebox or banged the dashboard it would sometimes come on but now it doesn't at all. Ive took the heater resistor out and im about to replace it with a new one i've bought off ebay for £15 even though the previous one did not look damaged or burnt in any way, if this doesnt solve the problem does anyone know what the problem might be?

Normally, the resistor is there to create the different fan speeds.
So if the resistor has gone, you'll usually find the only speed you have is high.

The GP is notorious for burning out the wiring connection on the fan motor

Is it a D.I.Y job or is it a little too advanced for a rookie to fix?

It doesn't work on any fan setting after wiggling the wires under the glovebox it used to work on all settings but now it doesnt work at all, and ive just replaced the resistor with a new one. The fuse has not gone on it and the resistor isn't burnt so the only explanation i can think of is that a wire has come out behind the fan settings on the dashboard?

Turned out it was the fan the fan motor that was broke cost me £120 to be fixed.(y)
