I have a fiat x19 1989 which has developed a intermitant fault on the ignition swich ,How easy is it to replace the whole switch and holder .

I don't think they feature an immobiliser which should make the job more straightforward.

Any more info on the fault - have you read about the 'brown wire mod' to improve current to the ignition circuits?

The switch is fitted with a snap bolt, at least that's what I call it. So when fitted from the factory, the bolt head snaps off when it gets to the correct torque. So very difficult to get the ignition switch off the steering column.
Just replace the whole upper steering column complete with the replacement ignition switch.
Done this on both the x19's I have owned.
