seems so but is there a way to adjust this? in this model fiat punto it doesnt seem to turn off

i know that is how it works but i am looking for a way to change that!

Its one idea i was thinking of, will see my electrical guy about it

Why???

What possible benefit is there to having it turn off when the door is open?, the mk1 is simple doesn't have fancy electronics so it doesn't even come on till you open the door anyway ? You can just switch it to off ?

Actually andy, the reason is i like to chill on hot nights and sit with the door open while i listen music, the light cannot be turned off from inside when the door is open which is stupid

The GT has a 3-way switch, which allows you to turn the light off when the doors are open. Perhaps you can swap the housings over from a GT to your 55.

Edit: The other option, of course, is to jam something between your door and the switch behind it to make the light think that the door is shut.

wait wait i think 55 also got that switch, will check later

not tried this in a punto but on alot of cars that have the interior light come on with the doors being open and a switch for on only (just a 2 way switch) you can make the switch halfway between the 2 sides and the light is off all the time. That does depend on the switch whether you can get it to stop in the middle or not.

If that don't work and it was me i would just pull the bulb out when i didn't want it on - sorted.
