I'm a Brit living in Holland and currently looking for a Cinquencento to replace my cherished Peugeot 205 CJ convertible as my daily driver with a fun factor. I've always wanted a classic 500 but high values and impracticality for everday use means I'm looking at the Cinq - an underrated baby Fiat in my view. It's in the lifecycle phase between cheap secondhand runabout and enthusiast's car, so the prices are low and there's still a few good ones about.

I like standard spec and am not bothered about performance, so a 900 will do. I like a folding roof (I have driven cabriolets for years), so a Soleil is a possibility. I have located a couple with recent head gaskets and timing belts and will be checking them out soon. I'll keep you posted.

Just for a bit of fun, the attachments show illustrations of a comparison in size between the Cinq and original 500, and the old and new 500's.

She is already a member of CCH, and will find an awesome soleil in holland, of that I am sure..
It's funny to see how much of us dutchies are on this forum to :p:p
She? Just a slip of the keyboard I'm sure;) Or is a Soleil a bit girly!
I just like small, simple, basic and if possible, open topped cars. Tuning just isn't my thing, although I love to see personalized cars and I am in awe of the mechanical skills and creativity involved. I am indeed a member of CCH and it's a great bunch.

Sorry Typo, my bad ;)
A soleil is not girlie at all, iI was thinking about converting mine to Soleil for a while..
I realy like the Cartoon you made of my Little Wasp Abarth, you got great skils

Bought a Cinq last week. Not the Soleil, that was a high miler and the dealer wouldn't drop in price. So I found a private sale of a white 900 from 1996 with just 65500 km (about 42000 miles) on the clock and almost a year's ticket. It's recently had a new head gasket, rocker box gasket, battery, tyres, hoses, fluids and brakes. Interior is clean, just one lose seam and no tears or worn patches.

I missed a couple of things (it was getting dark - yes I know...) like rust under the windscreen (well disguised) and under the rear wheel arch. Not serious but would have been good bargaining points. There's only only key, which wasn't mentioned until money changed hands. Both expensive lessons.

The clock didn't work and the radio was incorrectly wired (no permanent 12V), both taken care of now. The heater fan has stopped working but I think I disturbed the switch when trying to change lamps in the heater control (pushed too hard and they disappeared in the unit). Only way at it is to take the whole unit out.

On the whole, it's a good car and the smile factor is high. Had 4 adults with an average weight of 100 kg each and it drove fine. Plan to put a Sporting gauge set in (with original speedo) and maybe alloys. The tyres are brand new Firestones but in 145/80 size so a bit tall. Apart form this, it will stay simple and standard. A folding fabric sunroof would be nice, but cutting a hole in such a nice clean expanse of Bianco white is going to take some courage! A few pics:
