Hi all!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone here, have been lurking on here for a day or so now I have recently become a fiat owner, brand new fiat 500L, and first impressions of the car are fantastic! Covered a 1000 miles so far in two weeks and she is so much better than we could have imagined.

We plumped for the 1.3 multijet diesel engine as this is going to double up as a work vehicle/family runaround, but by far the most amazing piece of kit that was 'bundled' in with the deal was the beats audio system. This is a great sound system which far surpasses anything else I've heard in a car before - perfect for getting me through the miles I'll be driving around the country with work.

Not to sound paranoid though, one of my main priorities is to find a good local independent garage that knows Fiats well in or around the Leeds/West Yorkshire area. If anybody knows anywhere or has experienced any local garages, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks.

Ian

Welcome to the forum and the world of 500L ownership.

Somebody will hopefully be along shortly to answer your garage/dealer query.

Hi MJG

Thanks for the link, just had a quick glance down the list and there are a few local places already on the list :) like I said, I don't need it now and I don't want to tempt fate.....lol

After seeing a lot of fairly negative press about the 500L, do most people here fair well with their car? I know that forums often become 'i've got this problem....etc.' but would love to hear more positive experiences too :)

Overall a I think people in the UK are happy and as you say the ones you hear about on forums are the ones that have had problems. One of our forum members reported a particular issues around poor MPG on his twin air, but that wont be an issue for you.

USA owners have reported problems with their auto transmissions but that is a different version to the auto in the UK.

We had a few niggles with ours but nothing major and nothing the dealer couldn't sort very quickly eg the cruise control didn't work when we first collected the car and the steering wheel was out of alignment. We are now on over 18K miles in 14 months ownership and fingers crossed nothing major yet. We regularly do long trips and it never misses a beat eg we drove from the North East of England to the Lot in France this year with no problems what so ever.

There is a 500L section on the forum so pop over and have a read of some of the threads to get a feel for any issues. If anything minor electrical niggles seem to come up more frequently than other issues.

Actually bought the car from Piccadilly in Wakefield, so they should be pretty good, just wanted to explore other local options as would guess that dealer would be more expensive. But hopefully shouldn't need them for a while :)
