Hi every one, just started on your forum and hope to get help and give help
:)
my first question is....I have just got a 1988 kontiki with a 2ltr petrol engine that is running very rich, am i right in thinking that the mixture screw on the carb is the one that has the spring on it? and do i screw it in or out?
Any help would be great and thankyou for your time

I used to frequently tinker with my 2L Talbot, this uses old technology which I was brought up with, I used to have to weaken the mixture to get it through the emissions test and then boost it again to make it run properly:)

IMRC (and it's a few years ago now) the idle mixture screw is somewhere down near the flange and is hidden up (supposed to have an anti-tamper plug ;)) it's an air bleed so screwing out weakens the mixture.

The screw that you mentioned will be the idle speed adjustment.

hi , and welcome to FF,

pretty sure I've got the manuals for that,
( just sold my 1988 Capri)

as advised the screw should have plug,
sprung one is idle..

maybe remove airfilter element for a few miles to make sure you're not just choked..!!,
Charlie
