Hi everyone.
I have a 1.3 diesel grande punto 2006 which was pukka when i bought it but over the last couple of years it has been scuffed by an unknown driver and the odd dent which is detracting from my love for it!! But more seriously the central locking has decided to almost stop working. You can only open the car with the fob against the drivers side window which apparently is a fault on the computer behind the glove box which will cost £500 pounds or there abouts to replace, as you have to replace the whole thing. To add to that (which i was going to live with) now the passenger door wont lock or unlock when you use the remote, it will only lock with the key in its own lock. The passenger door does not lock when you press the dash button either but the drivers door does. It is not the key fob batteries nor the fob itself as the car would probably not start if it was out of sync. Any ideas or clues would be really helpful.
Thank you.

hi, and welcome to FF,

sounds to me like the lock mechanism is a little tired ( on the LH front door,

the GP section is the best place to ask / look,

this post should be visible there ; - )

Andy Monty will almost certainly have done a walk-through of some of your issues,

will the rest of the car lock with the remote>

check the wiring in the passenger door and the plug in the door hinge area for corrosion
Thanks for the advice. I will have a look. It's a two door by the way and the drivers door will open with the fob at a push.

Update!
I have had a look at the wiring connections and they look and feel in good condition unfortunately.
I had another play about but the passenger door has no connection to the key fob.
You can unlock the drivers door with the key fob at a push (bearing in mind the locking part of the computer is not working) but the passenger door is not responding at all.
When you sit in the car and press the lock button on the dash the passenger door makes a small noise but nothing of note and doesnt lock, but the drivers door does.
Grrrrrr!
