hi guys new on here, just purchased my first work van which is a doblo cargo 1.3 multijet 57 plate. unfortunatley i think i have bought a bad one. it has a slight oil leak which is coming from sum bolts which are loose holding the sum into the engine (garage thought it was a rear crankshaft seal). but my main concern is when the engine is hot, the oil light sometimes comes on when i am idoling but as soon as i touch the gas pedal the light goes off. is this common? is the van ok? would like to hear if this is common / normal? . . .

Get the timing chain checked out immediately!

What can happen is the chain stretches and the tensioner travels all the way past it's travel. When this happens, the oil pressure drops.

Do it before the chain jumps a few teeth and bounces the valves off the pistons.

That is worst case scenario, but very common on these engines apparently.

Thanks for the replys guys, i had a oil and filter service done a week ago. the van has got a very small oil leak but ive not had to top up the oil yet. . are the mechanics able to work out if the chain is stretched?
it only happens when the engine is hot and i am idol, as soon as i give it a rev or drive around, the oil light goes off.
