Hello all.

Sorry this is early but I'm awake and the phone is charged.

I learnt to drive in a 2.0 tipo new in 1994 and we had load of them since.

Fantastic drive 17 and with the tipo it was good to leave others behind.

Had a few punto Cabriolets and pandas, coupe 20v plus, brava, bravo etc. most models really since 1994.

Have a black punto cabriolet 1998 at the moment.

Thinking of another panda or anything else. What about stilo 2.4 are they any good in auto ?

Anyway going to work now.

Have a good day.

Hi Mat, and welcome to FF,

sounds like you know your way around the FIAT world..,
was the tipo a 16V.. or a TD..??

pretty sure the Stilo is a good car, but most will have been toyed with by now.. and the electrics were a little "fragile" from new,

Charlie.

The tipo was the 16v, very fun drive.

Yes 21 years of fiat Alfa and lancia it's been fun and expensive in times.

I've seen a few stillo's but as you say messed with I'll keep looking for a good one.

Hopefully more fun to come.

Mat

I had a stilo, not a 2.4 but in general i found it to be a great car, had over 200k miles on it when i sold it and everything on it still worked fine. Had very few issues with the car really, i can't remember anything electrical going wrong apart from the headlights went a bit doolally, corroded connectors is all it was though.

If i had a need for another car of that kind of size i wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I know gadge had or has a very nice stilo 2.4, sure he will be happy to air his views on them and the actaul 2.4 engine.

Yeah there a fantastic car in manual guise but TLC is deffinatly required (or evidence of it from previous ownership). They seem to like there oil so keeping an eye on the oil level is crucial. Being a manual you completely do away with any troublesome gearbox woes which can occur on the semi auto ones and the engine pulls ricidulously well - I can go down to 25mph in 5th and easily pull away with no struggle on the engine so you can almost drive it like an auto from 25mph onwards

Thanks both.

I'll have a look at the manual but the girlfriend wants another auto.

They look well made just worried about the auto and the 2.4.

Most of the cars I've seen have either only just today developed a problem or they have no or strange history.

I'll keep looking around.

Did see a old croma auto I quite like the look if but I don't think she will go for that.

I'll be bringing my recently purchased stilo 2.4 Abarth with sele speed box to donning later this morning .

:)

Stephen.

Good luck.

Are you able to drive in full auto all the time and forget about the paddles?

Mat

Hi Matt. Sorry for this ridiculously late reply but only just seen your message.
Yes. I always drive in full auto. It's just easier but car drives really nice. :)
