Just got off the phone with Vospers and they have told me that the factory has shut down for a few weeks and he does not know why, all 500l's have been affected. Any way I can check what is going on from somewhere? Was hoping to have my shiny new car very soon and this has not helped :bang:

Googling doesn't appear to reveal what is going on at the plant at Kragujevac in Serbia.

The last problem with FIAT 500L deliveries was a short blockade that affected movement of the cars to the port where they are shipped from. That was resolved pretty quickly IIRC.

It's astonishing the dealer can't tell you what is happening - a call or email to FIAT direct perhaps??

So I have just finished having an online chat with somebody at Fiat and they do not have any knowledge of the factory being closed for any reason, they have opened a case and will be getting back to me once they have found out some more information. If there is no issue with the factory I will give Vospes a call and see what they have to say

Spoken to Fiat again and they have not heard anything back yet :bang:.

Have emailed another Vospers as a potential buyer of a 500L with news of problems at the factory to see what sort of ersponse I get from them

Fingers crossed some sort of info will be available

It does seem bizarre that not even FIAT know what is going on with one of their own plants?.

Surely it's just a question of somebody making a phone call to the plant.

Keep us posted.

Had a phone call from Fiat just now saying that there are no new orders being taken as they are re-arrangin the rang for 2014 models, dealerships should be advised on this change by the end of this week / beginning part of next week. They were not able to go into much detail about what changes were being done, possibly bringing out the 2 new engine models that have been floating around IIRC, there was some mention about the Geneva motor show but to be honest I am on my death bed at the moment (man flu) so I dont think I am 100% with it. Anyways I will await a phone call from Vospers and take it from there.

The nice lady at Fiat sent me this link

Will wait and see what Vospers come up with, have spoken to them yesterday and apparently they do not know anything as of yet. Told them not to just order the car but to wait and see if there are any major changes to the "New Range".

This was before I got this link, not a huge amount of change it seems, just the newer engines it seems so unsure if to change the original order or stick with it, but will hold off for now anyway and see what sort of difference in price

So apart from thee two new engines 1.6 diesel and 1.4Tjet that is it? It's not a product refresh or redesigned. It looks like the reshuffled trim levels don't apply to is in the UK as we already have those.

The options it mentions are already available in the UK and there is no mention of a design change at all? Just some new interior colours.

As said, just sounds like the new engines (one of which is already on the configurator for the UK) and a new colour, possibly new options.

However fair play to Fiat UK for sending the info over - it's an improvement over past efforts where they've not even known so good to see a bit of communication. The Beats edition looked wicked in the car mags I've seen.

If it is just the case of the newer engines it does seem a bit extreme to stop the orders going through if there are no big changes to the original cars that have been ordered.

Only changes I made to mine were rear parking sensors, rear electric windows, dual climate and the white diamond alloys.

Hopefully I will hear back from Vospers very shortly to find out what has exactly changed. I could have been about 3 weeks away from getting my new car delivered, but now I have to start all over again for something that probably never even mattered to me in the first place (n)

Still not heard anything from Vospers yet about what is going on with orders.

Have looked on the Italian fiat website and it seems they have the new engines available on there, unless they already had them there before, nothing about the new colours but again with regards to the new packs being offered again the Italian site seem to have more options available than what we have, although this could have been there before again.

Never purchased a brand new car before so do not know if one country usually has more options than others on the same car.

Will keep you posted if I hear anything more from Vospers

It is certainly not uncommon for certain options only to be available in certain markets but not in others.

And yes Keep us posted...

Just got off the phone with Vospers, they are still unable to put any new orders through the system and they do not know why, aparantly they are having some web meeting with Fiat on Tuesday so he hopes to find out a bit more news, fingers crossed there is some new information but to be honest I am not getting my hopes up now after all this time.

My wife has just informed me that an ex work colleague had ordered a 500 a couple of weeks before we ordered the 500L and was expecting delivery by the end of this month, which obviously has not happened and according to him Vospers are not telling him anything at all regarding the delivery of his car. I have looked to see where the 500 is produced and it is different to the 500L, does this suggest there are bigger problems overall?

I spoke to a different Vospers earlier regarding orders of the 500L and he could not tell me anything about ordering time unless I actually ordered one, all he did say was that cars were still being delivered (wonder how long the dates on these orders were)

Will be interesting to see what information comes back if any on Tuesday
