500L Factory closed

500L Factory closed

The regular 500 is gaining a new trim level (called Cult) and is having a few interior changes such as a new instrument cluster on some models, so the factory in Poland (500L is produced in Serbia) might be slowed down or stopped to accommodate this.

The web meeting Vospers mention will be what tends to happen between Fiat & their dealers at the start of a new month or quarter, to update them on product changes and new offers etc, so they might find out more then. Bear in mind I was told when I worked for a Fiat dealer than sometimes even Fiat UK find out about changes right at the last minute, which makes them tricky to communicate to the dealers, so they might not have all the answers even on Tuesday. However, having worked for another couple of manufacturers, Fiat's communication is not the worst!

All sounds pretty normal to me, just a slight delay because of model updates, but I wouldn't be overly concerned - what Vospers have told you sounds truthful and Fiat rarely take longer than 16 weeks for a factory order even with delays like this, unlike a lot of manufacturers. Least you should be offered the latest spec/option choices when your order is processed :)

Well Vospers have just phoned, after the web meeting they have had they are hopefully looking at Friday as having the order book for the 500L back open, they still have to wait for the relevant info to be sent by Fiat, but again Vospers will give me a call, so I will of course keep you all updated (y)

Vospers just rang to tell me that they have still not been updated with the information even though they were told by Fiat that the information would be ready by Friday :bang:

This is getting beyond a joke now

What is wrong with companies and their communication these days

Personally I'd be very tempted to tell them where to stick their prospective order and have a look at alternatives...and then write to FIAT and tell them why you bought an alternative....

PS there seems to be some good deals available on the Ford B-Max at the moment.

I would tell them where to stick the order but the wife wants the 500L and we did manage to get it on a friends and family deal so I do not think if I could tempt her to look at something else we would get a similar offer.

Also my wife frightens me lol

I will be sending Fiat some form of communication to let them know how I feel but lets face it nothing will ever change with most of these companies

use the FIAT UK questions line.. - Slough

will take a couple of days for a reply..BUT they are actually pretty good,
had similar with my punto - £3K saving at risk..,
all worked out well in the end,
FYI the B-max is hopeless in comparison..hence the hefty discounts ;)

Your wife has good taste, I suppose it depends on how much you wish to let FIAT mess you about.

Agree on most of that.....except your assessment of of the b-max, great little car though agreed not as well specified as an 500l:)

I live in Serbia. The plant works normally. It is owned by Fiat and Serbian government. I think that Fiat owns 2/3 of the factory. The aforementioned seems to be the problem with shipping. Well, that's for living 'across the water' ;)

We figured out that it was partly due to the new engines coming out and the new "trim options" :)

The main issue is now why nobody is still being able to order the cars.

All I want is a straight forward answer from Vospers or Fiat but nobody is giving in, as previously mentioned Vospers were told Friday the information would be available to them but as usual this was wrong and they are none the wiser.

If it is a shipping problem then why don't they just come out and say it.

Chances of getting something thrown in for having to wait so long? probably slim but will ask the question when orders are back open, hopefully know more on Monday :spin:

Vospers called earlier toady, they still have no news and are unable to put new orders in the system, FIAT are keeping quiet, they just tell me they will look into it and get back to me. Hopefully it will not be much longer now but as usual I will keep you posted with any updates I get

Well a bit of good news at last, Vospers can now put orders in for the 500L.

There has been a lot of changes to the Lounge which has seen it lose a lot of stuff apparantly (not getting this one) the Pop Star has lost the 12v socket in the back and by all accounts that is the only thing to change, apart from the price which has gone up by about £160. (Fiat site not updated yet)

As mentioned in previous posts the new features were correct (colour, new engines etc) as well as a half leather option now which I believe was £400 or £450.

Now just to wait 6 - 8 weeks for the delivery,

Happy days (y)

Just to let you all know that after all this time my car is finally in production (so I'm told), still looking at roughly end of June beginning of July. Not bad considering it was ordered back in February :bang:. Will keep you informed of any other news I get which will just now hopefully be the delivery date, or to say (knowing my luck) the boat has sunk

I hope the floods in Serbia don't delay things further.....

I might've missed this elsewhere so apologies in advance, but which model/engine did you go for?

The 1.3 Multijet seems the most popular engine from what I've seen.
