Hello there. Am new to this but i have a bit of a problem with a camper van which i bought a year ago and is starting to become somewhat of a hadache. When i bought the van it came in thousands of pieces loads of spares etc and was very much an "unfinished project" (well barely started!!) i fitted the engine that came with it which is a 1.9 diesel as the previous owner said the 2.0l petrol engine had blown up. Initially the top mount and the top gearbox mount all lined up ok but the bottom gearbox mount was miles out. i overcame this problem by making up a sufficient bracket to accomodate the engine mount. problem solved. i had other minor issues like the radiator needed moving and the exhaust downpipe didnt line up so again had to be "adjusted". everything was starting to come together until i got to the driveshafts. As it turns out the engine seems to have come from a ducato of around 1994+ so the driveshafts from the original petrol engine dont mesh with the splines in the gearbox. I bought a brand new driveshaft for a 1994+ and went to install it to find out that it was to long so i guess a 94+ has slighly wider front wheelbase than my 1986. Has anyone else encountered this problem and if so are there any driveshafts out there which will actually fit or do i have to have my ones shortened???
