Hi yep i'm new to this :)
hello everyone.
i'm enjoying my ride with a multipla great to drive
into my 3rd year 81000mls.
its had complete new rear suspenstion left and right
front road spring right side.
one new brake switch.
but i'm now concerned about cam belt.
it starts first time all the time.and pulls like a train.
but how much longer can i go without a cam belt change
money is tight :(
ho hum life is such fun lol.

My Cambelt snapped at 60000 miles, so my advice would be to change it asap. It cost me £1000 to have it all fixed, instead of £300 if I had done it earlier.

Had mine changed recently £50 plus parts belt pulley and water pump..Watch the O ring on the water pump easily damaged ,I put a bit of silicon grease on mine does help

If that price is a full cambelt kit including tensioners and pulley plus waterpump...then pull his arm off!
I would definately change the aux belt and aux tensioner as well as if that fails it will take out the cambelt!

hi there yep i'm still on the road
and its cold lol.
thanks for all the reply's
gona have to put my hand in my pocket it looks like.
its a big job and if i get it wrong the mrs gona kill me lol
plus if you know what u doing its gona take alot less time.
eeerrr yes i'm right aint I lol.lol.:bang:

Hi.
I am also a newbi to the forum but not to Fiat, Just bought a Multipla after a 7 year Fiat gap and this is now my 9th Fiat (Panda 45S Mk1, Uno 45S, Uno 60S, Uno Turbo mk1, Uno Turbo mk2, Panda 45S Mk 1, Siec
ento Sporting, Punto HGT, now Multipla).
With regards to the timing belt IT IS ESSENTIAL to change it asap. My Punto required every 36,000 miles, I left it thinking it will be fine and at 43,000... SNAP, £860 repair bill!! Just had the Multipla done today having owned just a week and thank god I did. It's done 108,000 and the timing belt is knackered. The teeth are coming away from the edge and the belt is very cracked, one wrong gearchange or quick getaway and it would have been game over. I bought the timing belt kit from Eurocarparts along with the water pump and auxilary belts and with the coolant came to £162 with the discount code 'lastchance30' saving, you guessed it, 30%. Labour was £160 plus VAT at a local engine specialist (Autotronix developments) and is now sweet. Yes it's expensive, but half the price of a knackered engine and definately peace of mind. the lady i bought the Multipla from provided no service history therefore I have taken every precaution and have of course had my fingers burnt previously. OK as mine has done 108,000 on the original belt you could risk it, but my advice would be to change it and the water pump as well (£35).

think i'll take egr valve off and give it a clean
but first the cam belt.
ho hum lol i love cars me.

OOOOOO blocking egr off
eeerrr is that a good idea
what will this do to the engine
???????.

Blocking the EGR causes the engine to overboost and explode, if you have sunroofs, these will more than likely blow out as well.
By keeping the wipers on intermittent should prevent this.

Or you could search 'blanking EGR'
