Hi I'm new to the site, so you will have to bear with me. I've a seicento 1.1 and the fan doesn't turn off when I turn off the ignition. I recently had a new cam let fitted and a friend of mine said they could of knocked the thin wire connected to the switch. When I turned off the switch the fan stopped, but now it's got to the stage where it don't even do that. The first time this happened it flattened my battery. Today I've had to disconnect the wire to the switch which stopped the fan. Has anyone any ideas what it could be, or what I need to do. Thanks so much:confused:

Is your car MPI or SPI? See here.

Normal behaviour of the MPI cars is that the fan stops when the ignition is turned off (assuming over temperature) but of the SPI cars, that the fan continues running (again, assuming over temperature) so it's important to know for diagnostic purposes.

I'd guess SPI from your description of the switch (on the radiator?), in which case the likely cause is a break down of the wiring insulation of the earth side (to the switch -- it's switched on the earth side).

My cinq, doesn't turn off immediately when i turn my ignition off. It stays on for a short while before turning itself off.

But it doesn't flatten my battery.

You check the condition of your battery, alternator ? And clean the earths too.
