Hi all,
I have a Saab 95 Aero that my wife used daily to ferry the kids. It was killing me on fuel and as it's 12 years old (only 138000kms though), is starting to cost a bit in terms of maintenance.
With this in mind, I decided to buy a little run around and "save" the Saab for long trips.
My dad only drove Fiats when we were younger, so we generally had an affinity for italian cars, so the 100HP just made sense.
I'm based in Cape Town, South Africa, and after looking for a while (I'm very pedantic about cars), I eventually found one in Durban (about 1700kms) from where I live.
I got someone I know to check it out for me and based on his ok, I flew up to check it myself. It's a black '08 with 67000kms. It wasn't perfect, but didn't have any spray or bodywork done. It needs a good buff, a steering wheel and gear knob repair and then it would be perfect.
I already used a guide from this forum to replace the globe in the dash - it took me all of 30 seconds and the local dealer wanted me to book the car in as it was a "complicated procedure"!
The car has exceeded every expectation I had! It really is a fun car. The 1700km trip was done in a little under 15 hours and more than half of that trip was rainy!
The best part - I'm getting 360 - 400km per tank (R330 to fill) compared to the 400 - 420km per tank (R830 to fill) I was getting on the Saab!
Edit: I have uploaded some pictures in the Gallery section that the dealer sent me when I enquire about it.
