Hi all I have recently acquired a 2006 Doblo Active Muiltijet, I have to say I love it. I show dogs so am impressed with the space available :)
My problem is that the Engine failure light came on about 3 weeks ago, so I took it too Kwik Fit who said that is was a blocked filter & so revved it apparently to clear & sold me an additive to put in the fuel tank, this I did & all was well until this week when the warning light came on again . . . back to Kwik Fit who said it was the same problem - Error Code P1206 . . . any ideas if this is something easy to fix or am I looking at a massive bill from having to visit a main dealer?

Is it a 120bhp model? The sticker in the drivers door shut will say 120 if so. These models have a diesel particulate filter. The code is quoted on another thread as being for this. Go to a local garage and see what they suggest, sometimes they can use the car's computer to run a cycle that cleans it out. I had two bottles of the cleaner added and had to drive at 3000 rpm for about an hour when this happened to me in September. The cause is repeated short runs at lower speeds. The filter is between £450 and £700 depending on the garage. Cars with diesel particulate filters need regular motorway or similar type journeys.

Yes it is the particulate filter . . nearly died at the price quoted :(
I do regular motorway journeys . . . . if I blast it out could I save myself the money or is this something which needs to be rectified 1st?

The light needs to be off in order for it to work as I understand it. I had two full bottles of the cleaning fluid with about 10litres of fuel in the car and drove the car at really high revs for as long as I could to regenerate my filter. Then I only topped up about £15 at a time for a week to keep the concentration of cleaner as high as possible. I only use V power diesel or equivalent now. Mine has lasted 7 weeks now. The filter does reach the end of it's life eventually, a good garage will be able to advise of the best thing to do as their computer will tell them how blocked it is. Kwik Fit will not be much use!

hi I think I have the same problem mines a 55 plate the orange engine light comes on when I get into second gear ?! it don't come on when I start up only when I change up into second and then stays on people telling me different things ie air sucking in to filter ,housing cover not fitted tight ,im confused and carnt afford to take it to a garage to be told its something that's going to cost hundreds

I have the same problem - have changed the diesel filter twice now, still fuel error code - after a bit of digging it's low fuel pressure I have. My fuel filter was really clogged so I will drop the tank & make sure the pump in the tank is clean.

I thought the problem had gone away as it has been behaving since November, Saturday the engine failure warning came on & it went into limp mode . . .

The original Error Code P1206 - which I believe is the particulate filter code, today I popped into Quik Fit & they plugged it in but it came up with unknown fault :-(

i think all owners of doblos with this problem should try to get dpf removed or trick ecu into thinking it as none , problems reoccur time after time i no there supposed to be kind to the environment but they cause so much expense or running issues just a thought. mike:confused:

Is that possible & if so is it
something I should ask the Fiat Main Dealer when they do their £70 diagnosis on Friday?!

main dealer no, if you go to Google type in remove DPF and say your local area .its not a cheap option but a permanent one, price around for best price. mike(y)

Hi Kim , ,
As you had the problem "disappear" for a few months then you've either got a system that is "cleaning/regenerating" correctly,

or you have a sensor somewhere that's acting-up,

either way I would NOT rush into major repair work,

so what are the current driving / owning symptoms..??,

Charlie :)

Right have taken Dobby to the main dealer & they diagnosed the DPF as 99% full so did a forced regeneration, I've also replaced the battery.
I do lots of motorway miles every week or so, so hopefully it will behave now.

Can anyone point me in the direction of finding any help in fixing the "door open" sensor problem please ;)

Would be interested to know if you used supermarket diesel?

Hi,
glad you got it to REGEN o.k.,

start a thread in the Doblo section re your door light ;),
charlie

Read my problem posted on here just above yours, concerning warning light/ supermarket fuels. If I had taken mine in to have the codes read I would have ended up with a fairly large bill. I may be prejudiced but this has happened 3 times to me and once to a mate. Check out the internet for the same problem.
I will avoid supermarket fuels from now on.

Love the car.

Good luck with yours.
