Hi just joined and I have a 05 Stilo Schumacher No27 the one used in all the publicity shots it has the GP pack. I have a problem at the moment selecting reverse and 5th I think something popped of the other day , is there a bracket that keeps selectors in position maybe? It sometimes all goes very stiff and is difficult to select any gear but impossible to get reverse....any clues

hi alonso welcome to FF!

i had this issue a while back and it turned out to be the cable brackets were out of alignment...


brackets 9 and 12 are bolted to the gearbox, cables 2 and 3 run through them and are secured with the u-clips 7. check to make sure that the clips are in place and the bolts securing the brackets are all in place and also that the brackets aren't bent or damaged.

also cable 2 is adjustable at the gearbox end, mark the position its in before you attempt to adjust because its a right pain to get right again! it will take a lot of trial and error but i suspect it will be an issue with cable 2.

cable 2 controls the travel across the gate of your gearbox and cable 3 controls the travel though it. so 2 is side to side and 3 is forward and back motions. because you cant get the extremes of your sideways movement ie R and 5th i would be looking at cable 2 to be at fault.
