I am new to this forum and want to use this to seek help.
I have a 2.4 Stilo Abath and i and having a problem with my gearbox.
When i put the car into auto it changes up to 3 gear but wont allow me to go any higher. But i dont have a problem when i put it in to manual, It allows me to change up and down the gears using both the paddle and stick.

When reading other threats some people have mentioned that i might be a sensor issue, but that affects both the manual and the automatic. So im abit stumped

Would any one have any ideas what this might be. Could this be a sensor issue?

Have you checked your brake lights - do they remain on even though you are not on the brake pedal? If so, you need to replace or fix the brake pedal switch...

I haven't checked the brake lights i will have a look later.

Would this affect the gearbox when it runs in manual?
Should i stop driving the car or can i continue to drive it with the manual gear shifts?

Well, it won't affect the gearbox - in manual mode, you can change gears as you like.

But in AUTO mode, even though you may be accelerating to change up, it will sense the brake lights being on - and therefore won't change up automatically. Just a thought.

Nah, if it is that, you should be able to get the part and fix it yourself
