HI this probably a daft question but my pas motor has gone and ive been looking at 2nd hand replacement i no i have to get correct seriel for ecu but ive also noticed that some are advertised with a small shaft on the end and some without all for same year grouping as i remember when i stripped mine down, mine was without the shaft am just wondering if this shaft is removable or is there 2 different types thanks for any help :yum::yum:

new motor and ecu fitted but steering now seems to be lighter turning one way than the other . ive read lots of current posts on here and it seems i may need to get it calibrated .so i have a couple questions i hope some one can help me with.

1st should it need calibrating when ive only done motor and ecu ?

2nd if not should i now replace column as well ?

and 3rd can i calibrate steering with fiatecuscan which i already have from previous repairs ?

thanks in advance for any help:yum::yum::yum::yum:

To have the steering calibrated you need to take it to Fiat as they are the only ones that can do this, I don't think fiatecuscan can do this but I could be wrong cause I've never used the software but from previous threads regarding calibration people have said you have to take it to a Fiat dealership.

How much they charge I don't know, I suggest getting a quote from them or someone else on the forum might be able to shine a light on that.

Good luck :)

all done took the plunge and bought the full version of fiatecuscan as this was cheaper at £40 than the £185 that fiat wanted with no guarentees and it took less than 5 mins no errors so calibrated torque sensors all running fine and i got the tools and software if anything goes again happy days:):):):):)

you are going to have to run us through this
when ive done torque sensors (other makes) it was literally resetting the pot so i am interested in what you actually did
thank you

hi this was suprisingly simple with the fiatecuscan software .
1 install full version of fiatecuscan
2 connect green cable to diagnosis plug (side of dash under fuse box)
3 connect elm cable to green cable
4 connect elm to pc
5 start programme and turn ignition on(so dash lights are on)
6 click settings - interfaces tab -scan for interfaces
7 once its scanned it should show a connection on the interfaces window(if not make sure connections are tight and do scan again it took me 3 attempts)
8 now you need to click the test button and it will run a quick test of connection now your set up you can close the settings window
9 now you select vehicle and which system you want to check mine was punto sport 16v and delphi electric steering
10 now click connect
11 this next window shows you all the info on your connected device (power steering)
12 check for errors mine was clear
13 click adjustments
14 start the engine straighten the wheels and click torision setup
15 click execute this took less than 30 secs it says done
16 disconnect everything and try
it worked first time for me but you can do it again and there are also other options to centre the steering wheel and a couple of others.
hope this helps others i done my best to tell what i done and i no it sounds alot but it really only took 5 mins i not a mechanic or anything just a trier and this worked me(y)(y)(y)

point 14 torque setup/calibrate not tosion lol:yum::yum::yum::yum:
