(Excuse the terminology) Just had a leisure battery fitted with two way coverters to run my fridge and some other appliances....the leisure batteries charge as I drive. Drove about six miles back to my house, filled up at the petrol station, and drove home, as I was pulling into my street the battery light went on, on the dash. Now I'm wondering whats up with it??? Any ideas?? HELP!

In the three vans that I've owned the state of the leisure batteries has been shown on the control panel in the habitation area rather than on the dash: Do you mean the alternator light has come on?

If so this could be the 'normal' sort of failure: fanbelt; alternator; connectors; etc, rather than anything to do with the habitation side. If so any garage could fix it rather than having to take it to a motorhome specialist.

If you have just had the job done, take it straight back and get it checked. If you have had a split charge system fitted, it will most likely be sensed off the alternator, in which case the alternator wiring may have been disturbed. There are many systems available to charge your auxiliary battery, and while they may require different inputs on the control side, they will all be connected to both vehicle battery and aux battery. These connections should be protected with fuseable links or circuit breakers. The control side can be auto sensing, ign controlled, or alternator sensed. Auto sensing is the best system.
