Hi
I had a fuel consumption problem with fiat punto 1.1 1998. I have replaced the plugs, leads, oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and the cooling water. neither of those worked out . I suspecting that the problem maybe in the fuel injector; it might be blocked! could that be the problem? does the injector cleaners work in this situations and how to use those cleaners usually if the works??
I also have done free driving test and there is no problem!
Any other suggestion what might be the problem?

thanks:)

Suggest check the fuel filter; this may have corroded and be leaking petrol; it is located just in front of the rear wheel driver's side; the connections are push-fit.....

1) Faulty thermostat (remains open, thus the engine runs with lower than optimal temperature).
2) Broken (not airtight) rubber tube connecting intake manifold and vacuum sensor.
Just ideas...

thanks for the replays guys...the problem was with the fuel pump after all..a leakage from the plastic top of it..changed the pump and problem solved...........thanks
