Hello all.... Now before I begin I am not an expert in cars but wanted a big car that's good on diesel and gets me from a to b safely. So I brought a 2003 stilo and at first was happy until I went above 60 mph then it started juddering and the engine fault warning came on, hmmmm so back to the garage brought from and he said the shaft needed doing so he did that so of I go again fine at first, motorway driving lovely then after 30 mins she starts juddering again when I get to 70 mph ... Engine fault light appears but it's still running fine then settles again. But after 5 days this is still happening now should I take it back to the garage or is the stilo a typical juddering car at speed. ? Any help or advice much appreciated! Thanks :)

Stilos don't judder at up and over the ton if
everything is running correctly. There is still
a fault with your car and if it's still under warranty
needs repairing by the garage, perhaps they need
to test drive it at motorway speed.
If eml is lighting up then there should be a registered
fault to read by the diagnostics.

You don't say which engine or if it's petrol or diesel.

It's a diesel not petrol. I only brought it 2 weeks ago and it's been back to the dealer once so I think it should go back again!!

You've got a Stilo and can get it to do over 60! Be grateful!

But seriously, should be smooth as silk, get it back to the dealer as soon as.

Hi.... Car going back to dealer today , he thinks it's mis firing. I'm no expert so have to take his word for it . He says the engine fault will be recorded on the system so that will be easy to find. Beginning to wish I had never brought this car!! :-(

You'll be OK. I was in the same situation as you, I'm not stupid but I'm no mechanic... bought my JTD 12 months ago because I wanted something economical but with a bit of style and comfort - Stilos are great value for money. I read lots or reviews and lots of opinions slating their reliability etc, but I went for it anyway. I had some niggles at the start, engine management light, glow plugs, but my dealer sorted them. I've had a couple of other things, but nothing major - it's not as economical as I'd hoped, but I can live with it.
I would hope that your speed-related issue is something pretty minro - don;t know if cleaning the usual culprits - MAF, MAP and EGR might help - i t would look like being a flow-related issue maybe? Whatever it is, if it's a pre-existing fault the dealer HAS to fix it or give you your money back... but bear with it - once sorted, they are a pleasure to own and drive.

Thanks for the reply.,.. So the car is back to us apparently they had to replace the other shaft... Dont know much about shafts to be honest. Hubby drove it home and said it was fine so fingers crossed it really is fixed this time or I may not be a fiat stilo owner for to much longer! :)
