Argggg!!!!!

hi.
i changed my starter motor on my punto 1.2 55 s or sx yesterday because the old one broke.
took me bout 20 mins. when it was done i thaught yes i can drive it again....................BIG MISTAKE.
i got in and tried to start it up it wouldnt kick in but it would try. i went to get some petrol cause it was low and i thought it was maybe that. i but bout 18 quid in and it still didnt go. my dad said it was probebley air locked cause there was a hissing noise coming from a front. we let all the air drain out and we checked if the wires n pipes they were and ma dad said it was tryin t suck petrol back but no petrol had gone through.(y would it do that).we changed t battery n it still wouldnt. then i saw that the key sign was on and the key wasnt even turned and i stayed on when it was removed too.
it really annoys me.
now i aint very good at knowin things about cars but my dad does every thing from bulbs to rebuilding engines and for the first time in my life he didnt no what was up with it.
please help because i feel like this...... and i wanna feel like this
