my merea makes a tapping sound from the engine when i start it . sometimes it gets louder ( well more often then not ) what does this mean ? is it going to be costly to fix ?

Not familiar with the 1.8 engine, but my first instinct would be it's not low on oil. Get yourself down to the Marea section (or the Bravo/Brava section); I'm sure they'll be able to sort you out; they're just as friendly as the rest of us.

Some of the 1.8 engines have variators and some don't ..and if yours has got the variator then that's very likely what it is..welcome to here
