DIY - Oil Change on Punto - HI ALL!

How do you change the oil on a V reg MK2 punto.

Planning to do it myself to save money. Plus I think it will be a well visited thread.

Thanks

put the front on ramps or axle stands, warm engine, undo the plug on the sump, it 'might' be a 12mm allen key, it is on my mk1 punto, not sure on the mk2, but then empty it of oil! take off the oil filter, put a new one on and put new oil round the seal, refit the sump plug fill up with oil, check it on the dipstick, dont overfill!

you need 10w40 (well thats what the mk1 uses anyway, i cant see the mk2 being any different) but usually people reccommend 'better' grade oil, buy a 5L bottle.

Well and good giving instructions but if he hasnt done this before he would be better off having it done by some one that knows how to do it ..or he could cause serious damage to his car if he bodges it

Yeah I was thinking that! . If you come onto a forum asking how to do an oil change theres something wrong . Saying that the first time I did an oil change was on my 6 month old Grande Punto Sporting .
