Sold dud Multipla from Fiat! HELP!

Hi, new to forum, didnt think we would be asking others for help so soon! We need some help and advice, purchased x reg multipla just 2 weeks ago from fiat, its broken down twice already, managed to get hold of previous owner who also had same problems, from same garage over 2 year period, she managed in the end to get her money back, I now realise we have purchased a car from FIAT, with them always being the only ones servicing the car and then knowing these faults selling the car on the forecourt to me!!!!! Am I entitled to return the car after just 2 weeks with a full refund, and the money back for taxing the car??? Fiat have given me a full 12 months warranty with this car and have told me to take it to any local garage with these faults (can see why they say take locally as they themselves are unable to fix the car themselves) apparantly last 2 owners have had the same problem

I just want to cry, can you help

Fault: Engine Control Syst - contact garage.

This is the service you get from a local Fiat Garage!

please please reply or email me at letusknow@aol.com

i would be going back and asking to speak to a manager.
organise an appointment and explain you know the car has had the same faults previously and you are not happy the car has been sold to you with the same fault the previous owner had.
tell them you want ot return the vehicle as its proven unreliable already.
realistically you dont have much recourse, what faults does it have?

Surely under the sale of goods act an item must be fit for purpose which this isn't? If I had no luck with asking to return it I'd be speaking to a solicitor.

Re: Sold dud Multipla from Fiat! HELP!

I'd return it under sale of goods act!

Must be fit for purpose & isn't, also all dealers have to warranty cars for 3 months and for 6 months prove the fault wasn't there when it was sold, which you can prove they were thanks to previous owner!

They don't have a leg to stand on, I'd suggest giving them the car back, asking for a loan car and saying you have 7 days to fix the faults or I want a full refund or different equivalent car!

Right now were getting somewhere!

First off you didn't buy the car from Fiat as the title of your thread suggests, you brought it from a Fiat dealer who are are franchise.Any garage can apply for a Fiat franchise aslong as they meet some requirements/criteria.

Secondly I assume you have taken out car care or some other form of warranty,to which I suggest you carefully read what is/not covered.

Thirdly, any garage selling a secondhand car only has to warrant it for one month only, not three as has been suggested.Did you buy the car 'sold as seen' or trade to go?

Go back to the garage, request a courtesy car & leave the car with them until fixed. If not ask garage to take it to another Fiat garage to be repaired with all costs to be covereddby themselves.
