Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me. The last few days my Multipla (2007) has been leaking power steering fluid.

I have looked under the car, near to the front driver side wheel to find the leak and it seems to be coming from a coil type pipe. Can anyone help to tell me what this pipe is, or if they know any more? im not a mechanic and no pretty much next to nothing about cars!

Thanks

I'm not sure of the pipe you mean but a coil pipe sounds like a cooling pipe. Most power steering systems have a metal section to allow heat transfer. Luckily these are on the low pressure side and are therefore easier to replace.

It's almost certainly the cooling loop in the metal return pipe from the steering rack. It may be leaking from one of the unions at its ends, or it could be the pipe itself that's fractured if someone's bent it around in the past when working on the rack, roll bar or alternator.

I had a look yesterday when I was under mine. If it's the pipe I think it is, it's a pig to get to. Subframe off. I hope it's not the one I saw!
