Please help a damsel in distress,
My darling husband decided to drive over a "small stone" and has in the process managed to tear a hole in the oil sump. We have an 07 plate 1.9 jtd multipla. The car has been at the garage for three weeks now and he is driving my car (and put three thousand miles on it almost)the garage have quoted nearly 650 to replace the sump as the part itself is £530. Ive tried to look for spares can anyone reccomend a place to look or are we destined to pay the full price? between this and clutch repair this car is costing us a fortune!!

Get one off a breakers yard... I had the same rock V sump on New Year's Day. I actually repaired the sump with chemical metal and drove about 1000 miles like this( you'll find pics on this forum of my repair) If the hole isn't too big it could be repaired with either chemical metal or alloy welded, welding it would need to remove first so I'd be going down the breakers route first.
I got one for under 100, they are about 500 new though and not the most straight forward to remove.

Was it a sudden oil loss??. Did the engine run without oil for long?
Marty.

he managed to get the car home and it leaked all over the drive..so it was slow loss. Will give local breakers a call tomorrow. Though when i asked someone online they said they would only sell the sump with engine. thanks for your input.

Try a good few breakers there not v common and some won't break the engine. eBay is where I'd look for breakers scrapping multis.

A high mileage engine with sump may still be cheaper than a new sump from Fiat. You can always sell the scrappy the rest of it back.
The sump from a Mk1 Bravo (pre 2002) 1.9 diesel should also fit.

Also try DA Motors - 01268 767 424.

They are a specialist Fiat breakers in Wickford, Essex. Helpful people, will send stuff by post and their P&P rates are reasonable. I've used them a few times and have always been happy with their service.

It is worth knowing that your engine is also used in the Vauxhaull Zafira B, Astra H, 1.9CDTi, the SAAB 95 and other cars as well. Sometimes doing some research can save you a LOT of money. There are far more broken Vauxhall Zafiras out there than Multiplas. Also do a search on eBay for Fiat 1.9 JTD sump and you will see that the Doblo, Alfa 159 etc use the same one and are much cheaper.

They say a picture speaks a thousand words so compare

excuse the ignorance as i really am not mechanically minded at all. Having looked on ebay at the sumps for fiat 1.9 jtd and then going to the compatible vehicles it doesn't list the multipla? Thanks again to everyone for their reply's very much appreciated.

Did you not think to click on the first link I provided above ????????? Unless my eyes deceive me it says clearly in the title

"Sump engine oil Alfa 147 156 Fiat Doblo Multipla 1.9 JTD"
