Hello everyone

Me and my Multipla live in France and generally get along very well. However last Sunday she broke down just off the autoroute with all lights flashing and a diesal leak.

My fiat dealer tells me that I need a "systeme injection tuyau flexible" but that he can not get one from Fiat. I think that is an "injection system hose" but I'm guessing. He has given me the part number and asked if I can track one down either at the local scrapyards or in the UK (he seems to think the UK is a well organised mine of second hand parts because he has other clients who source their parts from over the channel).

The part number I need is 51761973. I have attached the diagram from the parts manual so you can see what is causing the problems.

I have searched the internet with no luck, phoned up Fiat UK and an autofactors again with no luck, ditto the scrapyards. So my questions are:

1. Can anyone give me any other places to try?
2. One of the scrapyards suggested that a local hydraulique et pneumatique company could make me a new one. Do you think that would work?
3 any other advice - I really can't believe I have an unusable car because of a 30 pound piece of tubing.

Any help you can give will be very much appreciated.
Jill

Hi, Welcome to the FF.

The part number is for the low pressure fuel pipe that goes from the outlet of the fuel filter to the inlet of the high pressure pump. Any hydraulic hose company should be able to make one for you. Give them the old part to copy, and they will possibly need to use the existing union(s).

Alternatively, there's a German spare parts company in Hannover that says they can supply one here: https://www.partacus.de/ersatzteile/suche/?sparepart-partno=51761973

Hi. Have a look at the top of FF homepage. Click a link for ePER.

Thats the parts system..

You should be able to look down the various multipla pages
Locating similar diagrams..and THE PART No.s
The numbers may well change over time..
But are still compatible parts.

The Stilo section has had the busiest JTD Traffic over the years.. a SEARCH in 'advanced'

Can enable you to search fuel rail topics in the stilo specific section..

It won't get your car fixed, but have you seen this (related) thread?:

https://www.fiatforum.com/multipla/237640-broken-fuel-filter-parts-problems-55-plate-jtd.html

It looks as though the hose in question was available in 2013, albeit that it had to be ordered from Italy. Looking at the parts diagram, the pipe goes from the filter head to the high pressure injector pump. As such, it won't be subjected to massive pressures - just what the low pressure pump in the fuel tank delivers. If you can sort out the connection onto the high pressure pump (it's hard to see what type that is from the diagram) a locally made hose might well do the job.

Googling the older 46762959 part number brought up a hit from the parts clearout Desira Fiat had in September. The page no longer loads unfortunately & I can't get a google-cached view either. It may be worth sending them an email to see if they can track one down for you (either the new or old part number). Part numbers can change purely because Fiat changed supplier - it doesn't necessarily mean that the part itself has changed, so it's always worth looking at the history if you find yourself in a bind.

It's a shame you missed out on the Desira clearance offers, as they were offering very big discounts on some items. Downside is that they were doing so at the instruction of Fiat Europe, to clear stocks of Multipla spares, which ultimately means it will become harder to get hold of Multipla spares. I'm not sure what happened to the stocks that weren't cleared come the end of September. Probably landfill.....

Thank you so much for trying to help. Sadly that web site had zero in the quantity when I looked at it - maybe I was too late. I'll keep checking back. Jill

Thanks for all your suggestions.

The Italian site had the part listed but 0 quantities by the time I looked at it but I can keep checking back. I did order one from another German site only to be told by email the next day they didn't actually have any. I've just tried ordering from a Czech site so I'll wait and see if tomorrow brings another cancellation.

I'll try phoning Desira tomorrow. Thank you for that address.

I'm afraid I don't actually understand all the codes in the Parts pages. I don't know what the codes M5, M6, M7 and D10331 or C10331 mean so I don't know if they are relevant. Is there a FAQ somewhere? Maybe I should read the history of the Multipla first and see if that answers my questions.

And Wednesday's plan is to go and retrieve the hose from the garage and to see if someone can make one for me.

Thank you everybody - you've given me hope.
(also apologies as I am a complete Newbie on this forum and I haven't worked out how all the bits work).

It is a Sep 2005 JTD 1.9 - If the 1.9 is the power indicator. My garage have underlined the M7 line on the parts manual which may mean it is a 1910 JTD CF3 115 CV/85kw but I I don't know what the numbers mean and I don't know where to check they've ticked the right box.

M5, M6, M7 etc. refer to the type of engine fitted in the car. D10331 and C10331 refer to a modification that applied to the pipe at some point during the car's manufacturing period.

I did wonder whether the garage had given you the correct part number for the pipe for your car. The only way to be sure, is to search ePER based on the car's VIN. If you want to PM me your VIN, I'll check it for you. The VIN will be a 17 digit number beginning with ZFA. It should be in the car's registration document, and on a metal plate under the bonnet. Do not post the VIN on the forum.
.

According to your VIN, your car is a 1.9 (1910cc) 115hp (hp = horse power, CV=Chevaux), CF3 = EURO3 (emissions standard), JTD Active. It has the M7 engine, and was built on 01/09/2005.

Unfortunately, your VIN is very close to the change over point between two different fuel systems. If your system looks like diagram "A" below, then I suspect part number 51761973 is correct, and the pipe will look like the picture on the outletricambi site. If your system looks like diagram "B" below, then there are some anomalies in ePER that make it impossible for me to confirm which part number you need.

EDIT: Just seen the photo you PM'd me. The pipe appears to have been repaired at some time, so difficult to know what it looked like, and what unions were on it originally. However, the plastic top to your fuel filter suggest that it does not use the banjo type union shown in diagram "B" below.

The complete filter (boite filtre in your PM) does not include the pipes. It's only the filter housing (Item 1), and the 'water in fuel' sensor (Item 14).
