Hi I am new to this site and hope some one will be able to help me out with my problem.
I own a Multipla 1.9 JTD 110 2002, and have a problem with the engine suddenly cutting out. I have changed the fuel filter and had the engine managment checked out and no errors (codes) were found.
The engine cuts out without any warning weather at idle or loaded, like I have explained I don't get any warning at all the engine just stops. It does however start as if nothing is wrong after about 10 minutes.
Please is there somebody who has had the same problem and can advice me on what to do, as when the engine is running it goes like a rocket.:bang:

I had similar problem like yours but it was happen to my freelander td4 before. it stalled when the engine getting hot.

I found that the problem was from the camshaft sensor. after changed it, wollaa..not more cuts out . might worth checking it mate.

Thanks kuratage
I'll give it a go, tried everything else. I'll let you know how it goes :)

I had exactly the same in my old JTD Punto, which cut out several times on the way to work one day, but after cooling down for a short while would restart and get me another 5 miles. It too turned out to be the cam sensor, which was relatively cheap to fix.

Good luck.(y)

The fact that you say it starts after 10mins suggests that it is heat related and a well known issue (in addition to the possibility of the camshaft sensor) is the crankshaft sensor which is at the back lower part of the engine near the gearbox.

I had this a only a few months ago...it did give me an error code though when hooked up. Anyway it was crankshaft sensor.
There is a really useful tip regarding removing it(search my point tsp it's not that long ago)... IIRC there is a small bracket to be undone which makes an otherwise impossible task of reconnecting the new one possible.
Marty.
