Hi peeps, first post so bare with me.
Got our beloved '07 eleganza and have just spent several hundreds on the usual front end bits ( top mounts, legs and spring, wishbones and brakes )
Just popped out and got a woosh from the engine with no revs and then a hard brake pedal.
Can I assum the vac pump has given up the ghost or do I look pedal end?
A pointer would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome,
If the brakes still work but need a lot more force than normal you have lost servo assistance. As you say the most likely cause of this is vacuum pump failure, but yo might also have a damaged pipe so check them too. If work has been done recently it's possibl that a pipe was not re-clipped properly and has come off or even got too hot and melted.
If the pedal is solid down and no brakes at all it's likely to be at the pedal / master cylinder end.

Good first post by the way, concise with all the correct vehicle details and some history.

HTH,

hi there.
Thanks for the reply, not any further yet but have just been out and checked the pipe work to the servo and gave it a blow and a suck and felt sound, felt the pull on the pump when running and felt weak.
How much pull should I expect?
It gave my finger a tug but not what I would call vicious.
Thanks again Robert G8RPI.

Thanks guys, vac pump ordered from eBay, low millage used one.
Fingers crossed, will give you an update as and when it turns up.
Cheers.

final post, vac pump arrived fitted in minutes and brakes are as good as ever!
