Hello fellow fiat fans, looking for some advice, Today my 2000 diesel multipla sounds like a Subaru, until a dreadful whirring sound kicks in when the accelerator is depressed down further. All noises seem to be coming from the front of the car. Has anyone else experienced this? I have recently had a new clutch and flywheel fitted. Thankyou for any replies/advice ☺️

Hi Andrea,

When I first bought my Multi JTD it had a horrid noise coming from the engine which turned out to be a worn aux belt tensioner and drive belt. With both of these now changed the car is much quieter, although the JTD engine is quite a noisy thing in a Multipla anyway.

p.s I wish mine sounded like a Subaru (y)

If the noises correlate coincidentally with the clutch change whilst having been previously quiet, then I would probably get the exhaust and turbo pipes checked for soundness. In addition have someone check the clutch/flywheel job.

Otherwise as Tubthumper has suggested other pulleys including the crankshaft pulley are always possible culprits.
