Hi everyone,

Last week I bought our first Multipla, after some time of planning to get one. As we now have 2 small children, and their car seats are big and rear facing it prevents access to the middle seat in normal cars (plus, our i20 the seat wont go back far enough with the rear seat in, meaning uncomfortable driving, and im only 5'7!).

We were hoping to get a late model (10 reg), but an 06 came up locally and was the Eleganza spec (Multijet) and under 100k miles, a bargain at £999. Has a few minor issues but seems to run good. If the right one comes up in 2-3 years then we might change, my wife wants a blue one, and the 2 sunroofs would be nice, but i know thats a rare option.

My other car is a Renault Avantime, and I know im not the only person with both, i think my love of quirky cars had quite a large part in the choice - but the multpila is amazingly practical!

I will just list the main issues here, ive done alot of reading on here already so have some ideas of how i might resolve them, but might get some tips from the experienced.

No service history - have ordered a timing belt kit and tool and read the guide, will also do a full service and clean the EGR and associated bits.
Stiff gear change - lubricate cables (although it seems to be getting better just using it, had not seen much use in last year)
No remote locking - hopefully just batteries as theres no light on either key, but have seen theres a way of fixing the button.
Spare wheel in boot, not under it - there is no sign of the winch mechanism, im hoping to work out some way of attaching it so it can be unbolted when needed.
No radio code - ive seen the thread about this, although not sure how to input the code once ive got it.
Rear de-mister looks like it has been damaged, so probably gonna have to get that conductive paint.

My other car is also an Avantime! They do seem to be a common pairing. I know of at least 4 others on the Avantime forum who own or have owned a Multipla as well.

Late model (09/10) Mutliplas are rare beasts. A quick visit to the How Many Left website will tell you just how rare.

The radio code is just input using the station preset buttons. In other words, the 4-digit security code won't have a number higher than 6 in it.
