Where do these pipes belong?

Hi all

whilst replacing the glow plugs in my 04 115 jtd, i removed the egr valve for better access, and noticed this pipe hanging free.

it T's straight into the main hose off the vac pump, but i can't find a diagram of hose or pipe routing to give me a hint at where it should go or belong.

it is heat insulated and its rigid plastic shape looks natural to route in-between the manifold and egr up-pipe, but to what?

please advise or point me in the right direction of a pipe route picture please, probably boost related but i can't find anything on pipes, hoses or boost control on eper worth seeing

digging a little further behind the engine i also found this pipe disconnected, and an open port on the elecetrical device.#

i suspect that this is the boost control solenoid and the braided pipe should fit to the empty / open spout?

but that still leaves me the rigid plastic pipe to find a home for?

Just had a quick look at mine. The rigid plastic pipe with the lagging around it in the first picture is pushed into a short length of rubber pipe not unlike what's shown in your second picture. I can't see anything without pulling some bits off, so this is just by feel and I can't reach far enough around the back of the engine block to feel where the rubber pipe goes.

It may be worth having a dig on ePER to see if you can find the relevant diagram.

Looks like this is the relevant page. Not a lot of use, unfortunately, but I reckon the greyed-out pipe marked "SGR.33102" is the one from the vacuum pump; you can go from there. Item 2 is the solenoid in your second photo, I reckon.

Hi there

someones awake then! ha ha!

yes thats as much as i could glean from eper myself, so to follow that through, the T'd pipe coming off SGR 33102 was it, appears as if it should be routed through that heat proof sheathing along with the other two, but they are separated and routed lower down for some reason.

so i have added a short rubber hose to take the rigid T'd hose onto the back facing spout from part 2, the boost solenoid, pretty much as the arrow labelled 5 shows it.

lord knows how long this has been disconnected this way, but maybe we'll have a flying machine now! lol!

does that sound correct practice to you?

Item 2 isn't the boost solenoid - that's mounted on the battery tray. I'm not sure what that small solenoid is for. Would be interested to know myself. Check that those short lengths of rubber tubes aren't perished, as I've had problems caused by those myself and it took me quite a while to realise that they were the culprit.

Post some photos up when you're done!

i think items 2 and 6 are both boost related solenoid valves.

both have similar hose and electrical connections, but why there should be 2 i have no idea, similarly the hose connection point on the back of the motor i am also clueless on!

my lose/free hose connections appear to now represent the line drawn labelled 5 on the eper diagram, in other words coming off that T down to the back facing spout that was free.

the original rubber link to this must have dropped off some time ago, so at least now i found it and rehomed it, and havve a clean map sensor, clean egr and new glow plugs in to boot!

only problem now is an engine warning light from having the egr disconnected i suspect, and my multiecuscan simply refuses to connect all of a sudden! Doh!

ok

multiecuscan now repaired and connected.

something is definitely not connected correctly or working correctly, but, as this has now turned into a boost diagnostic issue, i'll start another thread on it as it should be useful if solved to more folk that way.

please look out for my next posts, all assistance gratefully recieved (y)
