In the last year it's had
Discs and pads head gasket and bolts gearbox front strut bearings bottom arms drop links rear arm bushes both rear wheel bearings n/s front wheel bearing glow plugs filters all oils changed 2 new tyres
And now losing water and oil?
RIP our second and last bug?

Still mot'd till sat
Plenty of good parts and towbar
Spare cat too
Can't find v5 anywhere
But found the green bit

Buy the entire car for
£75 needs collecting from Scunthorpe

Still driveable but will need monitoring while you do
I'll chuck in some oil too

Losing oil and water at the same time suggests that perhaps your cylinder head job may not have been done properly ??

Head skimmed new genuine gasket and bolts
It was done correctly I'm 100% of that

I don't know if I need certifying or maybe I'm just plain gaga, but here is the latest in a 'getting longer by the minute' line of Ugly Bugs. I think this is #6 , or is it 7? God knows, but even my mate next door seems to think it's time those 'nice young men in their clean white coats' paid me a visit.

Went to Scunny to pick up Ben's old Bug, met Ben, whose a really nice chap and had a chat and a nice brew. Gave the bug the once over and a run up the street n back to see how it felt. It sounds quite 'bottom endy' which could be a result of it's earlier problems (oil and water issues probably caused lack of lubrication to bigend / crankshaft). No real problem tho, I've got a spare engine so providing everything else is reasonably ok, it'll be back on the road soonish.
Whilst talking to 'our kid' on the way home we've decided to sort out this 02 ELX and keep it for a spare car. It's in half decent trim and clean enough to make a go-er.
More on the saga later.
Gotta go, the spanners are calling...
