Technical Multijet coolant bleeding

I paid just shy of 70 quid looks like I got ripped off, I need to speak to the rep from the company who make them who spoke to my mate who ordered the parts, they are defiantly faulty and can't deny it

I'll put the part numbers for both up when I check the paperwork.
Had to remove the latest new one unbelievably as the top heater pipes connection was loose!
Got to the point where I wish I'd just got a genuine one.

I unscrewed all the plastic pipe connectors and cleaned off the dodgy silicone that had been used.
Then wrapped the threads with PTFE tape and added a coupe of drops of locktite for good measure.

So in essence I paid £34 from euro car parts, checked that the hole was drilled, re seated and sealed all the plastic connections (plus this one didn't come with a sensor) Before I could finally get it fitted and have the temp gauge read 4 bars but also have piping hot air through the heater.
6th time lucky.
Will add the part numbers tomorrow.

They might not be faulty. They might just be the wrong part.

I know I keep banging on about this, but use the forum ePER to look up the correct part number for your car (using your VIN number to ensure it returns relevant results) and then search for the part you need on line or with your local motor factor using that Fiat part number. Places like Autopartoo can cross reference the Fiat part numbers to those of other manufacturers and I've yet to have a problem doing things that way. If you do have a problem and the supplier/manufacturer has shown equivalence to your Fiat number, then you have a much stronger case when it comes to getting a replacement or your money back.

There's currently a German ebay trader selling Mapco 'stats that cross references the p/n I gave for about £46 delivered, including the sensor. Whilst there's no guarantee that it will work/be the right part, it's a good start.

Good advice, but still this stat that's blocked off / not drilled, what possible application would there be for any use.
It would have to be for an engine that doesn't have a heating system, but yet still has heater matrix pipework.
The coolant flows into the matrix via the long plastic pipe at the bottom of the stat, circulates through the matrix, then comes to the dead end, but can flow down back to the feed pipe.
Although it can't contine around the matrix again due to flow speed. Instead there's a pressure build up in the stat housing which then pushes the front of the stat off.

On my car, after "rigorous" testing and wondering how I was getting coolant sprayed onto the fan shroud.
With the engine warm but the start closed and with high revs applied you could watch it lift out and fire the coolant out.

I agree why put heater pipes on it ? Doesn't make sense to me, it would be cheaper to produce without surely, seems like a production error for sure

Hi,
In general Locktite type sealants are not good for use on plastic parts. They don't cure or bond well to plastic and in some cases can cause stress cracking. There are of course exceptions and specialist products. I don't think it will harm your 'stat fittings, but I would not use it on plastic as a matter of routine.

I Looked at my Gates 'stat for the Croma and all drillings on that are fine. I just need to get around to fitting it.

Robert.

Agreed Robert, I'm hindsight the PTFE would have been fine, but you need to understand my state of mind at the time. I'd almost taken leave of my senses, any more leaks and I'd have had the mig out and gone crazy!
