OK so I have a 56 plate 1.9tdi eleganza which according to my research is 120bhp. Whenever I look for parts the closest I get is the 1.9tdi 115bhp. Would all the parts for that model be the same as for mine? I'm assuming they are but I want to make sure as I'm looking for new rear springs and probably going to be replacing the suspension on the front end soon aswell. Also if anyone could put me in the direction of a good set of springs it would be much appreciated. Not sure if I want to lower it or keep it on factory height.

Thanks Ian.

90% of all parts even between the old ugly shape and the facelift model are the same. BUT take note of my caution on eBay front shocks. DO NOT BUY from POLAND. As for springs I changed my last set 8 years ago and they came off eBay never had any issues with them but because i am giving the whole car a major refit I am putting new ones on now. These I got off eBay as well. So long as they last another 8 years I'll be happy.

You should always ask the seller to verify with your VIN code though, although a number of eBay sellers are a bit thick and incapable of applying any lateral thought. If price difference is not too big (and I can't believe I am saying this) use your local auto factors. That way you can always take back what does not fit. I have learned the hard way that eBay is sometimes false economy.

Of the readily available 'known name' springs, Monroe & Sachs don't seem to have caused many people problems. Of the less well known brands, Suplex & Kilen are easy to get hold of. I've not seen much feedback about Suplex, but there's been the odd bad report for Kilen.

I've got Bilstein springs on mine & they are excellent. Not as easy to find - Google 'Balance Motorsport'. The springs Bilstein make for the Multi are not sport rated or lowered - they're just to OEM spec. I had to wait for the Bilstein factory to make my rear pair to order, which tells you there isn't much demand for them!

Whatever you do, don't buy KYB:

@IanLF - if you use the forum ePER for looking up part numbers, bear in mind that the version FF support is from 2005, so doesn't cover your car. As glowplug says, suspension and brake parts for your car should be the same as on earlier versions. Parts for engine, interior and bodywork are more likely to differ.

Awesome cheers for that guys. I've seen some bilstein ones on eBay. There about 50 a spring if I remember. Does that seem about the right price?
