I hae asked similar questions before but still unsure on what action to take, so thought I would post again with a more detailed description of the problem.

Model 1.6 petrol year 2005 Mulipla

My Internal Fan Heater Does Not Blow Any Heat.

1/ The electric fan works (blows cold, at best a tepid warm).
2/ The cold to hot switch on dash works. I can physically also move the cold/hot flap under the dash Or at least I can hear it moving inside.
3/ There is no aircon on this model.
4/ I have flushed the system many times and can feel the heat at the in and out pipes of the matrix under the bonnet. There is a good flow of water through (using hosepipe).
4/ I can also feel the heat on the metal pipes under the dash towards the matrix.
5/ The heat does not seem to getting from the matrix through to the fan motor.
6/ Temp gauge goes to center and remains there. Engine runs well.
7 I cant find a layout of the fusebox here or on Google. There is a photo of one very similar, but at the point where fuse 17 should be there is a relay on mine.

I had originally thought I needed a new matrix but not sure now, I can feel the heat under the dashboard on the metal pipes that enter the matrix, so doubt the matrix is not working. Thought I needed to remove dash. Now don't want to if possible

I don't understand what the heater fan relay does?
Does it affect the heat, or just switches the fan motor on?

So looking for ideas to what this could be? Before I end up taking out the dash for no reason?

If you can hear the blower fan running and it responds to changing the fan speed switch, and the in and out pipes for the matrix (can you reach both of them? I've never tried) are getting warm: Have you tried removing the pollen filter to see if that improves air flow? Are you getting good airflow out of the dash vents, even if it is only blowing cold air?

I've had a similar problem on 2 of my wife's cars, A Renault Meganne and a Pug 106. What worked with the 106 was to disconnect the heater matrix hoses at the engine (I had to cut the pipes and rejoin them afterwards). Then I put a garden hose into one of the pipes and turned it on. I flushed a horrible looking plug of rust (you can imagine what it looked like) out of the pipe then after reconnecting and bleeding all was well.

However the Meganne was a lost cause, I think the matrix was collapsed or something.

Hi Thanks for reply

Yes good airflow, did not know about pollen filter where is it located?

Thanks for reply.

I've flushed the system at different pint several times, the water is pretty clean and good flow.

The pollen filter is fine just checked.

I have just been under the dash again and both metal pipes are red hot.
The back of the whole heater unit is warm.

It is as if the flap from hot to cold is not closing/opening within the whole heating unit.
If I turn the slotted bar (where the cable fits on to) as far clock wise as possible I get nearly a Luke warm heat out put.

On a slightly different tack, the heater matrix is definitely leaking on my Multi. Does anyone know how to get the thing out?

PS: The heater fan relay has no heating function, merely switching a higher current item with a lower current signal.

Yes 4 different speed setting and all seem to work as should.

This is defiantly a dashboard out job.
I have struggled to find any instructions on how to do this though.

For most cars, the heater matrix is one of the first things to be fitted to the bodyshell when they are built, so getting them back out is a pig. It might be worth sending a message to miszczu77 - he's a member of the Polish Multipla forum (as well as coming on here from time to time), where they have a tendency to rip their Multi's apart to do drastic things. Failing that, give DA Motors a call and ask their advice.

Yes but have you flushed the matrix on its own, not as part of the whole cooling system? If the whole of the matrix is hot (not warm) then that would suggest an airflow problem to me. If it's warm but the pipes are hot (without airflow say) then that suggests a matrix problem. But I could be wrong.

have 2008 Multi ,blower blew cold turned out to be low on water ,bottled looked full but was stained ,was an unknown leak ,added this to system Holts Radweld Plus 250ml leak as stopped problem fixed and im not were sure were it started £8 well spent and worth a try.
heater matrix ??
