Hi,
What engine and year is your Multipla? I assume you downloaded the free version on Multiecuscan (MES) from www.multiecuscan.com. Unless you have the BiPower engine you can accesss engine information and fault codes with the free version of MES and an ELM 327 interface. These are cheap on ebay but the very cheap ones have a design fault (they have an extra resistor that needs to be removed) so unless you are able to remove a surface mount resistor I suggest you buy a "modified" interface. such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271275445368
I've bought from this seller without issue but there are other suppliers. You may see references to adaptor leads. You only need these for power steering airbag and ABS (depending on exact model).
If you are near Cambridge you can buy one of the cheap (£5) Elm 327 interfaces and I can modify it for you.

Robert G8RPI.

I bought a set of ebay item no. 161715574457. They seem to work OK with MES, but must admit I haven't tried out all of the adaptors. The listing specifically mentions the correction of the fault that g8rpi highlighted. Looks as though they've sold out of them at the moment, but might be worth dropping them a line. I think there was also another company on ebay listing the same thing when I bought mine.
Hi, Multiecuscan does far more than just read the mandatory OBDII codes. To access full functionality with the power steering, airbag and ABS systems the interface needs to connect to different pins on the OBD port. The adaptor leads make these connection changes. You don't need them for full functionality of the engine and body ECUs or to get basic fault codes from the other systems.
